About
Founded in 1918 as China's first hospital built and managed entirely by Chinese staff, Peking University People's Hospital produced Asia's first allogeneic bone marrow transplant, China's first hepatitis B vaccine and its first extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy device. It now hosts a National Medical Center, is the lead unit of the National Trauma Medical Center and the National Clinical Research Center for Blood Diseases, and runs a dedicated International Medical Department. Hematology and Trauma Orthopedics are its flagship national-center-level specialties.
