Founded in 1958 as the first hospital Shanghai designed and built itself after the founding of the PRC, Xinhua Hospital serves patients across every age group with roughly 2,000-2,090 beds. It holds 10 national clinical key specialties. Its Pediatric Medicine department was ranked #7 nationally in the 2021 Fudan specialty reputation ranking, and its Pediatric Surgery department -- home to the only Ministry of Health-designated national center for pediatric stone disease -- is also a national clinical key specialty, with particular strength in pediatric urology, neonatal surgery and minimally invasive pediatric surgery.
